Techwell’s software testing conference is quickly approaching. From September 30 – October 5, DevOps and testing professionals will be gathering in Anaheim, CA at STARWEST 2018 to share software testing best practices, the latest software testing techniques, and so much more.
STARWEST is one of the longest-running and most respected conferences on software testing and quality assurance. The event week will feature over 100 learning and networking opportunities that will cover a wide variety of some of the most in-demand software testing topics including testing in DevOps, test and release automation, security testing, Agile testing, and test leadership.
LogiGear’s CTO, Hans Buwalda, who has been a frequent speaker at STAR conferences, will give two presentations. The presentations will be a software testing tutorial, Better Test Design for Great Test Automation and DevOps, and a concurrent session, Use Soap Opera Testing to Twist Real-Life Stories into Test Ideas.
Test Automation plays such a critical role in Agile and DevOps processes. However, if these tests are poorly designed, they can have detrimental effects on the CI/CD pipeline. The “Better Test Design for Great Test Automation and DevOps” tutorial will go in-depth about how testers can design or restructure tests to make them suitable for automation. Attendees will learn how domain language approaches like keyword-driven efficient testing and behavior driven development will help make test designs more efficient for automation which will give them a head start on getting their tests organized and ready for automation.
Buwalda’s second presentation, “Use Soap Opera Testing to Twist Real-Life Stories into Test Ideas”, focuses on a more creative approach to testing called “soap opera testing”. It’s a concept that was designed by Hans Buwalda himself and is a style of writing tests where one writes as if they were episodes in an imaginary soap opera on television. Attendees will learn how this style of testing is efficient, effective, and can work in both Agile and DevOps.
