The Challenges

Our client is one of the world’s largest oil field service companies, with multiple subsidiaries and operations in over 70 countries. To remain at the forefront of innovation in their industry, they sought an accelerated transition of their applications to the Cloud. Hence, They needed a testing and Automation best practices service provider to assist them in this migration. Additionally, they were seeking assistance in improving the scalability of their Automation as part of their Agile transformation and helping align current testing and Automation practices of their SDLC to their deployment pipeline architecture/design.

The Solutions

The project deliverables included:

  • Accelerated transition to the Cloud via scaled Automation solution
  • Used Jenkins for the Development phase and Ansible playbook for the Integration, Validation, and Pre-Production phases of the Deployment CI/CD Pipeline
  • High-level test design best practices to assist Agile Transformation of the testing process within the SDLC
  • Test design, automation, and test management best practices to minimize technical debt and reduce quality gaps. Facilitate the proper set of tests to be implemented and executed in each phase of the deployment pipeline

The Results

  • After implementing the CI/CD pipeline, the turnaround time of the Regression was reduced from 2-3 days to daily, and AUT Code Coverage increased from 20% to 34.5%
  • In the AUT release cycle 1. 136.414 automated test cases were executed, and 166 defects were found, while the numbers are 82,309 and 95 in the AUT release cycle 2, respectively
