The Challenges

  • Our client is one of the UK gaming industry’s fastest-growing studios based in Central Brighton, England. As an independent game development studio, they experienced initial success with their hit racing games released in 2019. One game is set in street racing on iOS and Android devices. The other has evolved from the #1 selling toy in the world into a digital racing game.
  • The client was looking to spearhead testing for their first title on Apple’s new Apple Arcade. Since LogiGear had successfully tested a prior AAA game for the studio, our client trusted LogiGear’s previous quality and efficiency to succeed in this project. Our client wanted to ensure their game ran fluently across various iOS devices to submit their game to the Apple Arcade.

The Solutions

To ensure quality and efficient testing, our client’s test plans were executed in 3 sub-projects: Core, Multiplayer, and Apple Certificate.

  • Core: the areas of focus were to ensure that the team could install the new build and launch the build without any issues. Moreover, the team also validated the buttons, screen transitions, navigation, text, and images on each screen. In addition, LogiGear conducted tests to ensure that all achievements earned by the player were saved on the device or in iCloud.
  • Multiplayer: this phase required good teamwork testers as they would be playing the same game mode together to accomplish a goal. The areas of focus were Online (WIFI) or Nearby (Bluetooth) connections.
  • Apple Certificate: this phase required testers with knowledge or experience with Apple Arcade to ensure compliance with all terms and conditions set forth by Apple Arcade.

By carrying out the project in 3 sub-projects, the LogiGear team could make sure that all features and functionality of the various gameplay modes worked as designed.

The Results

Thus far, LogiGear has found 10 bugs per day – for a total of 655 bugs found. In addition, the company also created about 431 test cases for the client as of now.
