About our Customer

Centrify is a leading identity and access management company that helps organizations secure their data and applications. Centrify’s products are used by over 5,000 organizations worldwide, including Fortune 500 companies and government agencies.

The Challenge

Centrify’s platform comprises integrated software and a cloud-based service compatible with Windows, Unix/Linux systems, mobile, and Java and Web-based applications. The diversity of supported platforms adds complexity to application testing, requiring multiple tools for functional, load, and security testing with each release.

The challenge involved streamlining functional testing to align with product roll-out plans. One key issue was the use of different automation platforms across teams, leading to duplicated efforts despite outsourcing test automation. The critical concern was the decline in automation coverage with each new build, attributed to substantial maintenance needs for keeping automation scripts up-to-date.

      The Solution

To validate the solution’s capabilities, LogiGear automated key tests. Centrify engineers then adopted these tests as a model, using plain text to create additional test cases. The initial pilot demonstrated TestArchitect’s collaborative automation potential, showing its suitability for use by both Centrify’s in-house and outsourced teams for seamless sharing of test assets.

In collaboration with Centrify’s test teams, LogiGear programmed custom actions for specific application controls. Simultaneously, comprehensive training was provided to all teams, aligning with the client’s goal of establishing a standardized testing approach and method.

        The Result

In one month, LogiGear delivered a complete automation platform to Centrify. Test development transitioned to Centrify teams in three months. An extensive library of keyword actions allowed non-technical testers to create new test suites without programming support, automating 80% of Centrify’s tests. The time to prepare a new platform test suite was reduced to 2 days.

Comparatively, the previous full test suite, requiring 2 weeks and 4 to 5 test engineers, could be executed by only 1 tester in eight hours using 4 machines. The first full test suite run involved approximately 25,000,000 total tests across all builds, identifying 972 bugs, with 60% detected through automated tests.
