About our Customer

Our client operates a network of specialty/import retail stores through online and offline channels. They sought a versatile and comprehensive tool, complemented by robust system management, to assess and appraise the quality of their software and web-based applications. Additionally, to handle multi-user systems, the client aimed for efficient testing capabilities across various browsers and mobile operating systems.

  • Ad hoc testing
  • Regression testing
  • Mobile testing
  • API testing
  • 1,392 test cases designed to test across multiple environments
  • 460 bugs found and resolved

The Challenges

Their existing e-commerce platform is constructed on fully integrated software compatible with Windows, Unix/Linux systems, mobile, Java, and web-based applications. The diverse range of support platforms introduces complexity to the testing processes. To ensure thorough and efficient testing across all supported platforms, a diverse set of tools is necessary for functional, load, and security testing, all of which need to be completed before each release.

It created an extensive workload of testing procedures and management tasks. Adding to the complexity were challenges posed by the mobile environment, including issues related to the log-in/log-out process, input validation, errors and crashes, mobile interruption, security, and connectivity.

The Solutions

Following consultations with the client, the LogiGear QA Team devised an action plan. The team would conduct testing on the client’s e-commerce platform within their testing environment, focusing on creating and executing test cases. Additionally, their responsibilities extended to testing the production environment for various activities, including but not limited to regression testing for each e-commerce release, performance testing for e-commerce releases, testing on kiosk screens and in-store employee tablets, and maintaining a regression test suite. An essential task involved troubleshooting 3rd-party systems to guarantee seamless integration with the client’s software and web-based applications.

The Results

Throughout the entire engagement, the LogiGear QA Team executed a total of 1,392 test cases, with 398 of them conducted across 14 OS/Browsers for each release. This effort led to the identification, reporting, and resolution of 460 bugs. All QA tasks, including the design and execution of test cases, implementation, and reporting, were carried out by the LogiGear Team in accordance with the client’s schedule.
